International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) uses the Manoir Kanisha services for its NORTHERN DOG PROJECT.

The International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) uses the Manoir Kanisha Services in Montreal, for their NORTHERN DOGS PROJECT. IFAW is a non-profit organisation which assist animals in difficulties.

“IFAW’s mission is to rescue and protect animals around the world.
We rescue individuals, safeguard populations, and preserve habitat”

For many years now, Manoir Kanisha has assisted IFAW when animals arrive at Montreal International Airport. They need to have a caring comfort stop before the continuation of their journey either on a next flight or by road. We pick up the animals from the airport, give them a nice walk upon their arrival at our facilities, feed and water them, clean their travel crate,  prepare their travel container for the rest of their journey and give them a very quiet and comfortable sleeping environment. These dogs are just amazing. They are friendly and adjust well to a new family.

Last night, we have assisted IFAW in picking up a lovely 10 months old labrador mix called HOMER. This was an unplanned emergency situation and we needed to respond immediately. HOMER arrived at the Montreal International Airport at midnight. He originated from an Indian reservation in Waskaganish, where he could no longer live a secure environment and comfortable life.  Waskaganish is a Cree community of over 2,200 people on the south-east shore of James Bay, in Northern Quebec, Canada.

Here are a few pictures of HOMER taken this morning with Janet, one of our assistant manager:

Sometimes we receive female dog with their puppies, other times we receive dogs with behavioral problems,  handicap (such a blindness) or lovely healthy animals who cannot continue to remain in the Indian reserves.

Here are a few pictures of animals that were rescued from northern regions and spent time at Manoir Kanisha:

DONATE TO THE

International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW)

NORTHERN DOGS PROJECT

The Canadian Northern Indian reserves do not have access to veterinary care. If a dog sustains an injury like a broken leg, IFAW’s NORTHERN DOGS PROJECT is often the only hope a dog has to be treated. Before IFAW stepped up with this very special program, these dogs had no hope for veterinary treatment.

This NORTHERN DOGS PROJECT has done so much, yet there are always more dogs in severe distress that need assistance. The work is funded entirely by DONATIONS. To support this program please give and give generously.

We encourage our pet loving readers to donate and assist this very special non-profit organization and this special project. For many years, Manoir Kanisha has assisted IFAW in this program. Therefore, we had direct experience with some of these Northern dogs. We have notice that these animals have an exceptional disposition and adjust well to their adoption family living.

To make sure that your donation goes to the Indian reservation rescue dogs, just write for  “NORTHERN DOG PROJECT” at the bottom of your cheque.

Send what you can. Every dollar counts. Here are three ways to donate:

1… Here is the link to donate via a credit card:
