The \u201cSENIOR AGE\u201d varies for each species, even for each breed in each species. For example, in the canine species, \u00a0some small breeds such as terriers can easily live until they are 20 to 22 years old. But the Great Dane or the Wolfhound generally lives between 7 to 9 years old.<\/h3>\n

In the \u201cother pets\u201d species the variability is even greater. If cared properly the Guinea Pig or the House Rabbit could live until 12 years and the red-eared slider turtle until 40 years. Some pet birds have incredible longevity; the Cockatiel can live until 15 to 20 years, the Macaw until 50 years and the African Grey, can easily live pass 75 years of age. Generally, the\u00a0larger the parrot, the longer the lifespan. Because of the lack of predators, in captivity the birds are able to reach their full lifespan potential.<\/p>\n

So what is consider a \u201csenior pet\u201d will depend on the specie and the breed of your best friend.<\/p>\n
