The boarding of a pet in boarding facilities can be very stressful for the pet and be very worrying for the family of our four-legged companion. \u00a0I had never used a boarding facility for my own dogs before my experience with the \u00a0Manoir Kanisha.\u00a0 I have to admit that my expectations are very high for any boarding kennel.\u00a0\u00a0 Why do you ask?\u00a0 Everyone is like that.\u00a0 The difference with me is that I have been the owner of a five-stars boarding facilities for dogs and cats for 15 years, Le Chenil de La Forest. It was a high-end boarding environment just like Manoir Kanisha. \u00a0The circumstances regarding the present boarding period for my very young puppy were very particular as you will learn if you continue reading.\u00a0<\/p>\n
I have to admit that my expectations were very high for a boarding environment. \u00a0Why do you ask?\u00a0 Everyone loving their pet should have high expectations. \u00a0The difference with me is that I have been the owner of a five-stars boarding facilities for dogs and cats for 15 years. It was located in Mont Tremblant, Qu\u00e9bec and called “Le Chenil de La Forest”. It was a high-end boarding environment just like Manoir Kanisha. \u00a0As you will learn if you continue reading, the circumstances regarding the present boarding period for my very young puppy were very particular.\u00a0<\/p>\n
I am a family breeder of a rare breed of dogs called Schapendoes. There are very few in Canada. I only produce one litter per year.\u00a0 My breeding dogs are part of my family.\u00a0 For the purposes of my breeding\u00a0program, I travel to Europe to meet top breeders, look for new bloodlines to diversify and improve my genetics pool and produce better animals. In April 2017 I went to the Netherlands to look and select a new baby Schapendoes.<\/p>\n
As usual, I inquire and made the necessary arrangements to have my puppy with me in the aircraft cabin. I do not like to have an 8 weeks old baby in the cargo area. \u00a0This is not the first time I have traveled with a young puppy Schapendoes. I never had a problem with my previous imports into Canada. \u00a0 Upon my arrival at the Montreal International Airport, the Customs Officer asked me if I have the IMPORT PERMIT for my young puppy?\u00a0 I did not have one because the information I was given by the Canadian authorities prior to my trip, did not specify that I needed to apply for such document.<\/p>\n
I immediately asked how I can apply for this IMPORT PERMIT. \u00a0I am informed by the Custom Officier that I have to return my puppy to his country of origin before I can apply for his IMPORT PERMIT. \u00a0I \u00a0am beside myself with anxiety and fear.\u00a0 My baby has not peed for more than 12 hours. It is impossible to walk him or leave Customs as they have confiscated my precious puppy.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Here is when my adventure with the Kanisha Manor begins.\u00a0 The customs officers gave me the telephone number of the Manoir Kanisha where my puppy will have to be kept IN BOND. I have to call their number and make arrangements with the Manoir Kanisha so that my dog can stay\u00a0with them in Bond until I can arrange the return him to the Netherlands!<\/p>\n
After my call, the Manoir Kanisha takes the situation in hand.\u00a0 They immediately came to take my puppy from the Customs area.\u00a0\u00a0 I knew the excellent reputation of the Manoir Kanisha, but I had never been there myself. The owner, Nicole MacDuff, took the time to explain in details the process I will have to take to acquire the famous import permit for the very small fee of $35.00.<\/p>\n
