Manoir Kanisha, located on the island of Montreal, always surprises our visitors with the size and extent of our securely fenced outdoor playgrounds. Our clients are always astonished to see the amount of space we can offer their “Best Canine Friends”.
Depending on the climate and the temperature, we modify the outdoor activities. We offer pool playtime, Frisbee and tennis ball chasing, or in the winter, games in the snow, etc.
To ensure the comfort and security of your dog we place the maintenance of our grounds in the hands of professionals.
These grounds can also be used to walk your cat if you have trained it to walk on a leash at home. In order for your cat to feel completely at ease, just bring its harness and leash.
“HARRY” a very efficient the OWL!
A wide variety of animals pass through Manoir Kanisha. Most are welcome. We also get a lot of wild birds, especially starlings, that peck open the plastic waste bags. Wild birds are very unwelcome around airport territory because of the risk of bird strikes on aircraft engines. We are not even allowed to have outside bird boxes to attract nesting birds.
The airport goes to great lengths to deter them. They use a raptor (bird of prey) handler as well as rockets and fireworks to keep wild birds away from aircraft. Unfortunately, their efforts do not deter the starlings from attacking our garbage bags!
Our International Pet Relocation Manager, Tim Harris, who has spent most of his life on his family farm in England, suggested that we install a plastic owl near our garbage bags. Naturally we, as city dwellers, laughed at his original suggestion. Since we were really tired of constantly clearing up the mess around our garbage bags, we had nothing to lose. So we went shopping to purchase the largest plastic owl we could find and we called him ‘HARRY’.
To our enormous surprise, it worked! HARRY is most effective.
Since landing on our front fence, our black bags remain intact. The birds don’t dare touch ’em.
Our thanks to HARRY and Tim.
